Waikiki of Honolulu

Waikiki is a neighborhood of Honolulu, in the City and County of Honolulu, on the south coast of the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Waikiki Beach is at the forefront of the coast of Waikiki and one of the best-known beaches in the world

The district stretches from the Ala Wai Canal (a canal dug to drain the former wetlands) in the west and north, Diamond Head (Lē ʻ ahi) in the east. The name in Hawaiian means spouting water from the springs and streams that feed the wetlands that once separated Waikiki from the inside. Waikiki has long been a place of relaxation. In particular, the area is a haven for Hawaiian royalty in 1800.
Today, the neighborhood and the beach are considered the center of the tourism industry in Hawaii, with an abundance of the two skyscrapers resort hotels (including the Hilton Hawaiian Village, the Halekulani hotel, the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, and the Sheraton Waikiki) , and historical hotels were traced to the principles of 20th century (such as the Moana Surfrider Hotel and the Royal Hawaiian Hotel).
As seen in the photo, Waikiki Beach is known for its magnificent views of Diamond Head. The frequently visited by tourists from beach, accessible by a street next to the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, it is actually quite short, with half of what marked off for the surfers. For some distance in the ocean water is very superficial, even though there were many rocks at the bottom, so waders should watch where they put their feet. As with most of the beaches of the ocean waves may have some strength, especially in windy days.

The beach has had its problems with erosion, leading to the construction of seawalls and beach replenishment projects. For example, in the years 1920 and 1930 sand was obtained from Manhattan Beach, Calif., and transported through ships and barges Waikiki.

Since 2001, there have been free movies on the beach. Many tourists from all over the world can watch a movie outdoors on a screen 30 feet. This particular event free in Waikiki movie is called "Sunset on the Beach"

Wet Waikiki

Much to the dismay of Spring Break vacationers, Hawaii has been plagued by uncharacteristically bad weather for the last two weeks. Thunderstorms, heavy rains, floods, landslides, even tornados and hail. The tourist mecca of Waikiki has not escaped the gray skies, where you're now as likely to see umbrellas and ponchos as bikinis and surfboards.
